MUMBAI: Versatile singer Sonu Nigam who idolized the evergreen Mohammad Rafi and used to sing in his voice, has planned to recreate the magic at the Concert - A Musical Journey Of Maestros, on 7th May, 2011 at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai.
Legendary music director Pyarelal of the music duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, is set to perform live after twenty years. In order to revive the magic of the legend, Sonu suggested Pyarelal to organize more of these shows. To make the show spectacular more than 100 musicians will be performing live on stage with 60 chorus singers.
Along with Sonu other singers such as Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy,Sudesh Bhosle, Shail Hada, Vibhavari Joshi and Shrikant Kulkarni will also enthrall the audience with the chartbuster songs composed by Laxmikant -Pyarelal from their evergreen hit films.

Even while doing the song selections for this show we had long discussions with our singers and musicians. Indeed it was the tough task to select the songs .While doing the preparations for this show I became nostalgic and started remembering the memories associated with the creation of each song.”

It was bombastic win from ‘Jackie’ for music director No.1 in Kannada cinema V Harikrishna. He continues his second film in succession with Dr Rajakumar family banner.
The four songs in ‘Hudugaru’ are with melody, mixture of group songs very nicely rendered. Neeralli Sanna Ale…is repeated in the album is sung by Sunitha Gopuraj.
Naa board iradha Bassannu Hatti Bandh chokari…..a very peppy song…..Tondre Illa Pankaja Niddhe Illa Pankaja…akka nim maneli naayigu dance baruta… aimed at the front benchers is penned by Yogarj Bhat. Mamath Sharma, Navin Madhav and V Harikrishna have lent the voice for this group dance song.
Neeralli Sanna Aleyondhu Nodi Chooradha… Ninatalle alisaballe ninna Pisumathu….Alisalarre Naa endhu Manadha Gode Baraha…. Kanaballe Kanasallu Ninna Hejje Guruthu….Kelabeda Nee ninna Kurithu…a melodious one sung by Sonu Nigam for the lyrics of Jayanth Kaikini is no doubt the best melody of the album ‘Hudugaru’.
En Chandane Hudugi….for this song the folk song Ghallu Ghallenetha…first few words are picked….is about the good heart of villages tucked in the song lines….. the voice of Khailash Kher reach of words to the ears is the high point of this song. Sukhvinder Singh, Khailash Kher, Vijaya Prakash, Priya Ramesh have sung this group song set in the fare background in the village. Dr V Nagendra Prasad has penned this song.
Shambo Shiva Shambo….Rudranu Moorane Kannannu Bidali….. Yarigu Anjodilla snehakkke onde Kula…..Hudugaru title song too. Sung by Shanker Mahadevan for Dr.V Nagendra Prasad lyrics is racy and speed of the music is tremendous. This is on friendship is also in high pitch throughout the song.
Anand Audio has brought this album to the market.

My son and wife were lucky to be blessed personally by him I touched him look in his eyes that looked at me through eternity. It was overwhelming. With her inimitable sense of humour, Lata Mangeshkar named each of the other singers on the album and said that they had sung very well, adding finally, “Aur Lata ne bhi accha gaaya hai!” as she broke into a mischievous smile.
The other scene-stealer at the music release was Nevaan Nigam, Sonu Niigaam’s son, who was on the dais, sang the sargam, but was otherwise least bothered about the adults around as he clutched his gifts and had a blast with fellow child singer Saanjali Khadikar, Lata’s grand-niece. The two prodigies also sparkled in the audiovisual shown to the audience. Lata also made it a point to invite the technicians on stage, including the arrangers and recording engineers.
The occasion was the launch of Sarhadein: Music Beyond Boundaries on April 12 at a Mumbai suburban five-star. “Such is the power of music that it transcends countries, cultures, religions and generations and brings people together,” said Apurv Nagpal of Saregama.
A landmark concept driven by none other than Lata Mangeshkar, the album has a rare duet by Lata Mangeshkar and Mehdi Hasan (written by by Pakistan’s Farhat Shahzad) and features Usha Mangeshkar, Suresh Wadkar, Hariharan, Sonu Niigaam, Rekha Bhardwaj and another Pakistani singer, Ghulam Ali.
Javed Akhtar’s lyrics have been composed by Mayuresh Pai. Adarsh Gupta, Music Business Head of Saregama, described the album as “an amalgamation of the very best of talents from the sub-continent. The simple thought behind the CD is ‘Let’s unite with music’. A very special thanks to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkarji, under whose guidance this exceptional concept has shaped into a milestone album that not only crosses borders but also generations and ages as it marks the arrival of GenNext artistes Nevaan and Saanjali.”
Rekha formally launched the album and Lata Mangeshkar expressed her gratitude to the actress for gracing the occasion. While Sonu Niigaam was held up at a shoot, his wife Madhurima was present. Others present included the full Indian contingent of the album’s singers (which comprise Usha Mangeshkar, Hariharan, Suresh Wadkar, Rekha Bhardwaj) as well as Mayuresh Pai, the music director.
Among the guests were veteran composers Ravi and Anandji, Kiran Shantaram, Lalit Pandit, Talat Aziz, Shilpa Rao, Vishal Bhardwaj and Kunal Ganjawala.
Mumbai, Apr 22 (PTI) Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and singers Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal will judge the Indian version of the singing reality show 'X Factor'. Although a formal announcement has been made only about participation of Nigam and Bhansali, according to sources Shreya Ghoshal too has been roped in. The singing talent show is an adaptation of the successful international show 'The X Factor'. The auditions for the show are going on in several parts of the country. "I don't know how to exactly define X-factor... Amitabh Bachchan has this X-factor...now how do I define his X-factor?" Bhansali said. The logo of the show was unveiled last evening by Bhansali. The first season of X-factor will be hosted by singer-anchor Aditya Narayan. "With X-factor breaking records worldwide, we are looking forward to its launch in India," Sony Entertainment Television's Head of Programming, Ajay Bhalwankar, said. According to the Pune Warrior team officials, "Shankar has composed the theme song for the Pune Warriors team. The song is sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam and Sapna Mukherjee. The theme song is titled as 'Sahara Pranam'. Well known Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Hegde and Tanushree Shankar have conceptualized the song sequence for the theme song. Ganesh Hegde who has been associated with the last three IPL season has this year associated himself with the Pune Warriors team.
He reveals, "Last IPL season 3 I had choreographed for the Kolkata Knight Riders team, and for the IPL season 4 I have been approached by the Pune Warriors team to do the choreography on their theme song- 'Sahara Pranam'. What is more interesting the concept of cheer leaders in Pune Warrior IPL team has been recreated into an Indian form and the cheer girls will be called Cheer Queens. There will be three cheer queens on every podium and they will be performing all traditional Indian form of dances with fusion of Bollywood moves. It is very innovative idea and it is interesting to do something different for the first time."

Sonu Nigam is a perfect exemplar of the fact that if you are talented… no one can stop you. The man who got his big break from a talent hunt show on TV years back is the most sought after play back singer today. From lending his voice to a number of Bollywood actors, Sonu has also done some impressive work in vernacular languages including Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Punjabi and Tamil.
Not just this, Sonu Nigam has also been a hit with audiences as the host of TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and a great crowd puller in various concerts, his tour to North America being the latest.

Think reality shows and the first name that come to one’s mind is Sonu Nigam. In fact, it would not be an overstatement to say that Sonu Nigam and Farah Khan’s combination in Indian Idol is perhaps the most popular judge-jodi till date.
Sadly, Sonu was out of reality shows for a while — due to his other commitments and also due to the way talent hunt shows were transforming into TRP hunts! After a gap of couple years (he was last seen in Chhote Ustaad last year), the genius will be seen in a new show X Factor that will look for musical talents across the nation soon.
“I have always stayed away from reality shows where judges created unnecessary scenes for some extra TRP. I have always said that I will not participate in a show where quality can be compromised,” he says while elaborating the reasons for his absence from reality shows for a while.
The host-turned-judge Sonu Nigam also seems to have very strong views on the selection of judges by the makers. “Why should a non-dancer celebrity be the judge for a dance reality show? Why should an actor judge a musical talent hunt show? Just because a filmstar is a crowdpuller? I strongly feel that a song-based reality show should be judged only by composers or singers and likewise for dance-based reality shows.” Point taken, Sonu. Something the makers need to take care of.
In the past, there have been loads of controversies on reality shows for children and the impact it has on their studies, childhood and innocence. But that has not deterred producers and broadcasters from making newer reality shows for children. How does Sonu view this phenomenon? “I feel today’s kids are under too much of stress and that is definitely not good for their future.
Let me share an incident with you — while judging Chote Ustaad, one parent asked me about what would happen to studies if kids continue to do reality shows. I told her, look at the bag which today’s kids take every day to school. Don’t you think it is too heavy for them? We have to think differently. It is high time we should.
Lata Mangeshkar or Sachin Tendulkar did not think of becoming a singer and cricketer all of a sudden. They started learning and practicing right from the childhood. I feel that is how we should deal with our children as well,“ he says.
“I was a pretty good student in school. In fact, my class notes became a popular tool for success and used to be called Nigam Notes! But thanks to my parents, I had no pressure or stress related to my studies. I could pursue my singing in parallel as well. I feel that is how today’s parents should look at things,” says the singer who will be seen in a new avatar in X Factor.

Voice messaging company, Bubble Motion has raised $10 million in a funding round led by SingTel’s VC arm SingTel Innov8, with participation from Singapore’s Infocomm Investments and existing investors Sequoia Capital, Palomar Ventures, and NGC. It had earlier received $6 million in series-C funding from Palomar Ventures, Sequoia Capital and Comcast Interactive Capital, in 2009.
The company intends to use the raised funding to extend its voice-based social messaging service Bubbly, to new markets, while scaling its technology platform which has been adopted by many mobile operators in Asia. Also, it will expand Bubbly to additional mobile platforms including new operator networks, the mobile Web and smartphone applications. The service was launched last year.
According to the company, Bubbly has over 7 million users across 4 countries (India, Indonesia, Japan and Philippines), with 3 million being paid users. It has delivered more than 250 million bubble messages through the service.
It has operator partnerships with Bharti Airtel (SingTel has a 32.15% stake in Bharti Airtel) and Reliance in India. Airtel had launched a voice blogging service called Airtel Blog last year, using the Bubbly platform and had signed up BBC News for a premium voice blog service.
Celebrity voice bloggers on the platform include Amitabh Bachchan, Lara Dutta, Sonu Nigam among others. Interestingly, according to a report, Amitabh Bachchan had more followers on Bubbly than he has on Twitter.
