Sonu Niigaam's New Song For 'Tees Maar Khan' - Breaks All Records!!

Shirish Kunder turns music composer and lyricist for Tees Maar Khan

Shirish Kunder is one happy man these days. Besides writing and producing his wife Farah Khan's directorial venture Tees Maar Khan, Shirish is also set to make his mark as a music composer and lyricist with this film! Shirish, who is the writer, producer and editor of Tees Maar Khan, will be making his debut as music composer and lyricist with this film! Kunder is also composing the background score for the film. Master of all trades, we must say.

Talking to Bollywood Hungama, an elated Shirish says, "There are 5 songs in all in Tees Maar Khan, four of which are composed by Vishal-Shekhar, while I have done the title track of the film, including the composing and the lyrics. I have also composed the film's theme music."

Shirish can't stop praising Sonu Niigaam, who sang the title track of TMK. Reveals the debutant music director, "Sonu Niigaam, who has sung the title track, needs an exceptional mention and credit for the wonders that he has done to this track. He has sung the same song 50 times in 50 different voices! Of the 50 odd voices, there are male voices, female voices, the chorus and also Chinese girl's voices. Sonu has sung all of these voices. And even in the male voice, there are 4 different voices. Each and every vocal that one hears is sung by Sonu Niigaam! This is a song that tells us about all the characters in the film."

Well, it seems like Shirish and Sonu are all set to surprise the audiences with the title track of Tees Maar Khan.

Sonu Niigaam Attends Dabangg's Success Party

The 'Khan'daan is still celebrating the super success of their film Dabangg... and why not, it has broken all records.

But this party wasn't thrown by Salman or his brothers Arbaaz or Sohail Khan. It was a bash given by their childhood friend Basab Paul at Vie Lounge in Juhu. And what a rocking Sunday night it was, with rock star Salman letting his hair down and shaking to the groovy music of his film! Joining him was Sonakshi who came along with her mother Punam Sinha.

Looking quite chilled out in a summery dress, Sonakshi enjoyed herself thoroughly while 'Munni' Malaika Arora Khan and her sister Amrita looked stunning in short dresses. Arpita and Seema Khan too were present and so was Sonu Niigaam, Sonu Sood The other Khan who came to wish the family was Aamir. Vinod Khanna, Tinu Anand, Anurag Kashyap, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder, Bhushan and Divya Kumar, Saajid-Waajid, Subhash Ghai, David Dhavan and Vidhu Vinod Chopra were among many others who were seen at this do which went on till 3 am!

Sonu Niigaam At Shabana Azmi's b'day Party

You must all have seen pictures of Shabana Azmi’s 60th birthday celebrations, the hype around Amitabh-Rekha’s appearance at the same venue, etc., by now. But it’s time for the inside story. Koimoi.com brings you the scoop on what went on inside the party that lasted all night: the pranks, the jokes, and the jibes. Read on!

Sonu Niigaam may be nasty to the media otherwise, but the singer was the life of the party. He had turned up in all-white and his hair even looked good (for a change). Taking over from the DJ, Sonu doled out songs for the gathering through the night and was joined by singer Alka Yagnik and music composer Lalit Pandit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a Saturday night out for Shabana who was feeling all young on her 60th birthday. Nothing less than a fancy dress party would do for the birthday girl. At Mumbai’s lounge bar Trilogy located in hotel Sea Princess, an A-list of guests made its way to the retro themed party.

“Shabana personally invited the actors asking them to sport different kinds of headgears to give her party a retro look,” shared a guest.

For more effect, singers Sonu Niigaam and Alka Yagnik crooned numbers from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Shabana came wearing a
fuschia pink chudidhar with a sequenced red beret and was seen dancing the night away with hubby Javed Akthar.

Amitabh Bachchan chose the traditional Nepali gear of a Dhaka Topi. Anil Kapoor referenced his own film charcters and had put on a funny police inspector’s cap, teaming it with black denims and a blue shirt. Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan chose to stay formal ?? he chic in his black blazer and she well-coordinated in her black salwar kameez.

Always partial to her golden sarees, Rekha decked up in yet another of those and was seen chatting up with pals Shatrugan Sinha, Naseeruddin Shah and his wife Ratna Pathak Shah. Tabu picked in a white chudidhar for the occasion.

Among the younger lot, Amrita Rao had on a blue jacket with a short black skirt, Shazahn Padamsee sported a red band on her forehead and an always elegant Dia Mirza went with an off-shoulder white dress. Out of her Sabyasachi sarees
and anarkalis, Vidya Balan tried the gypsy look.

Yesteryear’s hottie Zeenat Aman had her own girl-gang to keep her and Nita Ambani company. Urmila Matondkar was seen flaunting a stylish English hat.

Shabana’s favourite director Shayam Benegal was surprisingly not present. Farhan Akthar was missing too. Spotted from the director’s club were David Dhawan, Satish Kaushik and Gurindar Chadha.

“The party was a lot of fun and the `headgear theme’ brought out the sporty side of the film-industry. What a relief from usual formals!” said Tabu.http://www.bangaloremirror.com/article/24/2010091920100919184905658e5b43c4c/Who-cares-about-numbers.html

Sonu Niigaam & Shaan Shaan Judge Chhote Ustaad

The evergreen couple of the silver screen - Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh graced Chhote Ustaad with their presence. The occasion was the music release of their upcoming film Do Dooni Chaar which is scheduled to release on October 8th. Here are the tidbits of what to expect in this week’s Chhote Ustaad.

The most romantic jodi of the reel and real life – Rishi and Neetu were seen dancing on the sets of Chhote Ustaad where they came to promote their film Do Dooni Chaar. Rishi stole hearts again by dancing to his famous song Om Shanti Om and later Neetu joined him in another song to dance on Khullam Khulla Pyar Karenge. Rishi also sang his famous song Main shayar toh nahi for Neetu.

This romantic evening was a little gloomy with the news of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan being injured! It happened that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan injured his leg, when he went to his sister’s house to wish her Eid and to congratulate her for the new born baby. However, to replace him, Shaan had graced the judges’ panel this week, who calls himself to be the Desi Rahat.

This week the judges sprang another surprise by declaring the “Wild Card Entry” for Chhote Ustaad. After having the fantastic four jodis, Chhote Ustaad will now have a Wild Card jodi as the fifth contender for the competition. This will be a fresh jodi and the already eliminated contestants will fight for this competition. One Indian and One Pakistani, who will win the wild card round, will form a new jodi.

Sunday’s episode will witness two maestros coming on Chhote Ustaad stage - Shankar Mahadevan and Hans Raj Hans. And one person who was jealous of Hans Raj Hans was Sonu Niigaam! Sonu says that Hans Raj Hans and he have the same hairstyle and he got very jealous when Hans sang with his hair waving wildly and regretted tying up his hair for the shoot. Shankar Mahadevan was awestruck by the talent on the show and asked the producer which planet the Chhote Ustaads were from.

---------------------------------------------------------
EXPECTATIONS
Since A Flat (Earlier titled Flat) has been ready for quite some time, you expect a dated feel in its music. Moreover Bappi Lahiri, after being heard in a few albums so far, is yet to make his make his mark as a composer. Add to that the fact that there isn't any buzz around the film's music so far and the expectations are kept at the very minimal. Along with lyricist Virag Mishra, Bappi has made four songs for the album. Let's check out what exactly is in store here.

The name Sonu Niigaam is always exciting to read on the album credits, especially due to the fact that he has gone over selective in last 2-3 years. Even though it is Raja Hasan along with Aditi Singh Sharma who are heard at the beginning, it is Sonu Nigam who makes an instant impact 60 seconds into the song. He gets into his characteristic intoxicated rendition and brings in his own persona into 'Dil Kashi' which, though a tad predictable, is entertaining nevertheless. If you have liked those slow moving romantic numbers featuring Sonu in the past, you would like this one as well which is placed in the album twice and has Tulsi Kumar as Sonu's female companion

Jhootha Hi Sahi Music Review
What do you get when you bring together Abbas Tyrewala, A R Rahman, and some of the best singers and musicians in the industry? You get a fab OST full of really, really, really good music. We are talking about the soundtrack for the upcoming rom-com Jhootha Hi Sahi, which opens on October 15th. The story of the film was written by Tyrewala's wife Pakhi, who also stars in the film opposite John Abraham. For the OST, Rahman composed seven tracks plus two remixes that encompass many different styles, moods and flavors. Each one is multifaceted with the maestro's magic touch

From the first notes of Do Nishaniyan you just know - this one is going to make you swoon and smile and end up on your "ALL TIME AWESOME SONGS" list. The music is so lovely, then you add the golden tones of Sonu Niigaam and you have magic. Every line is full of richness and depth, but at the same time there is a lightness to the delivery of the music. Sonu's vocals are tailor made for this ballad and he proves once again why he is one of the best. There are little surprises throughout the song, that make it even better, like the more rock delivery he gives in one section and then that piano line...sublime. One of Rahman's great tracks that really shows off his mastery at composition! So much in one song and every note perfect. You must own this track!

Once again we get to hear Sonu's brilliance on the Heartbreak Reprise of 'Do Nishaniyan'. There is so much feeling to his delivery accompanied by the gorgeous lines of music you can literally feel the heartbreak. Rahman created so much sound with the simple piano, Sonu's voice but then backed up it up with that orchestration. Simple but full. Loved it, and wanted even more of this version as well! Sonu at his best!

Sonu Niigaam - A New Movie & A New Romantic Album

He had changed the spelling of his name to the awkward sounding 'Niigaam', but that phase, Sonu says, is over. Now, it's back to being Nigam again as it has nothing to do with numerology anymore. Sonu says he's "been enlightened" and that he's surprised at himself for all the changes he has undergone, including the name, the hairstyle and the anger management. Says he, "The name change was one of the journeys I had to take in life. I had to go through that path to learn the truth. And I have realised that I don't want to tamper with these forces. I am happy with all the astrological arrangements I was born with. I am happy finding success with my original name – Sonu Nigam."

His new look, complete with long locks and a chiselled chest, has been in the news recently. "I had the same hairstyle for 30 years, so I needed to change. Otherwise, I would've stagnated. But I realised that we are an emotional country and people get attached to you as a person, even your look and your ways. And the change is difficult for them to accept. But my hair has been the same for a while now. It is suiting my state of mind. I haven't cut it for 10 months now," Sonu says.

And his state of mind, Sonu tells us, is uncluttered, like his name. He explains, "My perspective of life has changed. Music is a state of mind, and mine's different from yours. I am a certain way and a lot of people don't understand what I do. But I have become accepting of that now." He has even learnt to control his rather temperamental behaviour. In earlier interviews, Sonu has often said that he was called a "bachcha" in the industry, and that led to frustration. But now, he's looking at things differently. "I have started controlling myself. I dissociate myself when Sonu is angry. I've controlled my anger greatly. I am surprised at myself," he says.

The changes have also led to positivity in his relationship with his wife, which had hit a rocky phase in the past. It went to the extent of Sonu saying publicly that his marriage was "on standby". But things have improved. He says, "Like any other couple, we have had trouble and our share of problems. I am a difficult man to be with."I am very imaginative and as a creative person, I give you the space you want. I can't tie anyone down. In turn, I myself want a lot of space." But, he's working on his family life and says, "I make it a point that all three of us – I, my wife and my son – travel together even when I go to Los Angeles."

So, what is it with LA that he keeps heading there, a la AR Rahman? "Well, I like the transition between the buzz in Mumbai and the silence in LA. I've got my family, friends and my soul in Mumbai. I've lived here since I was 18. But, when I go to LA, Mumbai becomes more important. It gives much more importance to Mumbai."

In an almost philosophical tone, Sonu adds, "Every day is a high point for me now. Giving this interview is a high point for me. I've never been this happy or content with life. I've been able to understand something about life." Even though the "enlightenment or revelation" is something that Sonu feels he doesn't need to share, he says, "I had never understood the world till now. But now, I have. So I have changed. I have become more non-judgmental and accepting. I'm not taking people for granted – parents, friends, and people we care for. But, I'm not content with what there is for me at the moment, for then there will be no goal to achieve."

Close on the heels of these changes, Sonu's packed with work Рthere's perhaps a romantic album and definitely a movie, plus the usual shows and singing that he does. Says Sonu, "I like to keep myself engaged in multiple things. So, there's obviously this reality show that I'm doing, and it's the right time for an album and I want to bring out a romantic album. There's also a movie, but I can't talk about it at the moment." It's clich̩d, but in Sonu's case, it seems, change is truly the only constant!

Tell us something about License to Live? License to Live is an inspirational thriller. It is a story that takes you on a journey of finding the path of true greatness. Greatness is best expressed in the present tense and engulfs every thought, every action that takes place in the present moment. Greatness does not lie in the past deed and neither is it a future promise, greatness is found only in what you do ‘now’ and the book brings out the message of success and fulfillment through this fable.

From where did you get the inspiration for this one? I knew I had to write the second book and I had a few stories in my head. So I took a break for 10 days and began to write. I discarded two stories after the first chapter and stuck to this one. License to Live as a concept came about in an argument with a friend who was haggling me to get a drivers license (since I was driving without one) and my contention was that a license should be to live life because we live our lives much more recklessly than we drive.

That’s when I said that one should have a test and exam for living and get a license to live than drive! A lot of people, especially youngsters, are getting interested in motivational books.

Do you see it as a healthy trend? Reading is a very healthy trend, at every age. I feel that if youngsters are leaning towards motivational books then it is even better because in today’s age of information and networking what is missing is guidance and that is what self-help books provide.

Your success mantra, as given in the book? My success mantra is live in the moment. To learn from the past and to have defined aspirations for the future, I focus on the present.

So what’s next? The book is already out in the stores and we are doing a formal launch with Sonu Niigaam. For me, he truly symbolises greatness and he will bless my book again. I am also planning to launch DVDs along with the book by the end of this year.

Bickram Ghosh - Beat Artist

Ace percussionist Bickram Ghosh has always scored high on fusion barometers by collaborating with top notch artists like Pete Lockett and Yosy Levy, besides being a constant fixture at Pandit Ravi Shankar concerts. However, he has always remained slightly distant from Bollywood, choosing only selective projects. After composing for films like Sooni Taraporewala’s Little Zizou, Ghosh has recently composed the music for Gumshuda , a film directed by multiple national award-winning director Ashok Vishwanathan that released last week and which stars heavyweights like Rajat Kapoor, Victor Banerjee and Raj Zutshi. Even though the film hasn’t managed to create an impact, Ghosh says he is happy with the way the music has shaped up. “The film will be travelling the festival circuit as it is more in the genre of parallel cinema and wasn’t really meant for the multiplex audience. But the music is extremely quirky, unlike anything I have done before. The tracks are a combination of blues, rock and qawwali,” says Ghosh, adding that it took him over a year to compose the background score and the six tracks.

Currently he is working on a project with Sonu Niigaam on a world music album in which he has collaborated with the US-based popular percussionist Greg Ellis, who has worked in projects like The Matrix Reloaded and Fight Club among 75 Hollywood films.

Sonu Niigaam - Like son, like father !!

Oi oi... What is this I’m hearing now? A unit wallah from the television show Chhote Ustaad 2 called to say that he had discovered the inspiration for Sonu Nigaam’s look. Huh? Turns out that it is son Neevan that Sonu is aping these days. That is, if the boy has curly hair, papa gets hair curled up, and if junior is sporting a gelled look, senior does the same.

So, depending on what look puttar is sporting, daddy dearest copies it, irrespective of where he’s going. Now, I’ve heard of son’s following their father’s footsteps…

But this is the first time I’m hearing someone following his son’s nakshe-kadam. Really now! But then, such is life dearies.

Maestro Pulls Through For Sonu Niigaam

Doha, Qatar recently hosted the highly acclaimed Indian
Bollywood pop singer, Sonu Niigam.

Niigam, best known for his singing in a number of blockbuster Hindi movies, performed at the Doha International Tennis Court to a crowd of thousands.

The venue, not designed for outdoor music events, threw up some challenged for tour manager Vincent Rodrigues and event manager Shafiq of Regency group, but Maestro Sound and Lighting Company from Bahrain solved the issues with high-tech sound, lighting and video backdrops.

Due to the quality and clarity of Maestro's recently acquired Adamson speaker system, Promod, Sonu's front house engineer, had an fulfilling first experience using Y-Axis series consisting of 16 Y18, 16 Y10, 10 T21, and 4 M15 monitors on stage.

Lab.Gruppen Amplifiers and XTA Processors were used with the entire speaker system, as well as a Yamaha PM5D RH desk at FOH, specked by Promod. David Dohrman, Adamson Europe's applications engineer, created an exceptional PA design to solve the known problems of the venue, the worst of which is sound reverberation due to the architecture. Using Adamson's shooter software David took on problem spots, and executed a final design.

The main PA was a L & R, low-flown system, each hang consisting of 4 Y18, with an 4 Y10 underhang. The side PA was made up of 4 Y18 per side which was held up by a hoist, but was set on the stage in a configuration similar to a ground stack, in order to achieve a heavily up-tilted orientation. A fill PA consisting of 4 Y10 per side was installed on the balcony to cover the upper bleachers, and T21 subs were distributed in multiple stacks on the ground. Due to the controlled radiation of the Adamson System Y-Axis series, the concert achieved even and excellent sound quality throughout, right up to the very back seats of the tennis stadium.
