Sonu Niigaam recently recorded two songs free for Krishan Chaudhery & Sunil Thadani's upcoming film Joker. The film, to be directed by debutant Vikram Tuli, deals with a father-son relationship.
When Sonu heard the script of the film he got very emotional and returned the cheque due for his song recordings.
The recording took place at Spectral Harmony Studio in Andheri on January 17, 2010 and the two songs he recorded were 'Shukriya' and 'Loorie'.
Joker will see Rajeev Khandelwal and Prachi Desai in lead roles. The film goes on floor in February and it will be Bollywood's first film to be shot start to finish in New Zealand.

This is not the first time Sonu Niigaam has done this, Sonu Niigaam has sang for no payment on many songs. Sonu Niigaam is an admirer of good music & once commented
'If music composers compose any thing classical he Will be glad to sing it only for a mere 1 rupee'.
That's the way to go sonuji, music composers should be focusing on making good music
They should concentrate on good melody's, learn from the old composers who sometimes recorded just one song in a week or even took a month for difficult songs
Those days were about quality & not quantity, that's why there music is heard by all even 20,30,40 years after first released !!
When composers have composed a good song or a good melody they spoil it by choosing the wrong singer to sing it, which then ruins any chance of that song to be a potential hit, it's heard for a month or two then disappears, why do composers do this ??
My message to all the composers out there, wake up !!
Compose good music, mix the song well & like the olders days of good music
Keep the vocals 60% & music 40%, Don't let vocals fade away in the music
Its all about team work, at the end of the day the composers & singers should get there due as well as the actor's on screen !!
I salute Singers like Sonu Niigaam who are always trying to promote good music !
A fact: Mohd rafi also sang for no payment for most of his songs too !!

you're perfectly right, Vijay - it's quality that matters, not quantity.
ReplyDeletePeople might remember composers, music directors, singer, but what for ?
Why do people remember Mohd Rafi ? Coz he has always sung and delivered quality songs and so does Sonu! Both are legendaries own their own and it's well deserved. Both will remain, whereas those, who did only quantity and/or mainstream and average music - they will be forgotten after a while.
So hats off to Sonu ! Keep it up !!!
Thank's Tania - well said !!
