Bihar turned 101 and not surprisingly the birthday celebration was no ordinary affair. People gathered in large numbers at Gandhi maidan to witness Bihar's clout and glamour on the occasion of Bihar Divas.
On Day 1, we had the laser show coupled with the performance of Bollywood singers Sonu Nigam and Deepshikha Nigam. The warm summer evening was charged with excitement where people gathered to hear Sonu Nigam live. Though the show started nearly an hour late, Sonu made up fully for the delay by delivering more than his fans could have expected.
Patnaites' excitement knew no bounds on Day 2 when singer Alka Yagnik performed in the city. Alka greeted Patnaites with songs like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Bole Choodiyaan. The venue was packed to its capacity with the singer's fans who had gathered there to listen to her live. Clad in a red anarkali suit, Alka interacted with the people in Bhojpuri, asking them 'Kaisan baani rauwa log', to which the crowd roared and clapped in reply. "I'm loving the audience," said Alka. Singing songs like Ek Do Teen, Lal Duptta, Gazab Ka Hai Din and Kisi Roz Unse, Alka had the whole crowd swaying to her voice.
On the final day of Bihar Divas celebrations, the stage was set for the king of Indipop, Daler Mehndi, who made a grand entry (albeit a tad late) with the song Namoh-Namoh followed by a Bhangra number Nana Nana Re Na. An absolute live-wire on stage, Daler broke into a lively bhangra while crooning his hit numbers Nach le Saade Naal Soniye, Main Dardi Rab Rab and the famous Tunak Tun.
The star studded night also witnessed a performance by singer Shubha Mudgal. Clad in a yellow sari, Shubha made the audience grove on her popular numbers Ab Ke Saawan and Dholna.
