Tweet, Voice Blog With Sonu Niigaam

Customers can now tweet and follow their favourite stars like Sonu Niigaam
John Abraham, Lara Dutta, Riya Sen, Ravi Kisen, Harbhajan Singh, Pooja Gandhi
among others

Imagine tweeting with a celebrity and listening to your favourite star’s blog- all on your Mobile! Now you can listen to Bollywood hunk John Abraham in his voice and post comment/tweet on his voice blogs. Reliance Communications (BSE: RCOM), India’s largest integrated telecom operator has tied up with Twitter to make the popular information network available on SMS. Customers can now enjoy Twitter on SMS free till 30th November, 2010.

Meanwhile, based on a tie-up with mobile messaging leader Bubble Motion, Reliance has launched a social voice blogging service making it fun and easy to become a follower of some of India’s favourite stars, getting text and voice updates directly from the celebrities with updates on their day-to-day lives.

Reliance Communications is roping in an array of Indian celebrities including leading Bollywood stars and singing sensations to launch first-of-its-kind voice-based mobile blog service. The telecom operator has roped in celebrities like John Abraham Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, Sonu Nigam, and regional film stars like Riya Sen (Bengali), Ravi Kisen (Bhojpuri) and Pooja Gandhi (Kannada) among others. Many sports stars will join the bandwagon by next year. Bubble Motion’s technological support platform will be handset-agnostic and would not require any application to be downloaded. Customers will be able to access the service through IVR(interactive voice response) thereby enhancing its user-adoption potential. Bubble Motion will integrate its special technology on RCOM networks using existing voice circuits.

RCOM customers can now tweet and follow their favourite star and listen to the star’s blog round the clock. Without owning a smart phone, customers can send and receive Tweets via SMS/MMS, hear their star’s voice blogs and forward and share them with family and friends on Twitter

To add Twitter account to mobile, customers have to send a SMS to the Twitter short code 53000 to sign up if they are new to Twitter or reply with their username if they already have an account to get started. Once set, customers can start following celebrities and catching up with friends.

Bubble Motion’s BubbleBlog is a voice blogging phone service where people share voice updates with friends, family, fans and followers. BubbleBlog is like Twitter with a voice and is bringing social content to mobile phones. Its tie-up with RCOM is in line with its business partnerships with some of the largest mobile operators around the world including India, Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines.

“We are thrilled to be working with Reliance Communications in bringing the most exciting communications platform to their customers. Connecting through voice blogging is bringing social communications to 600 million people in India who are not online and still want to feel connected as if they were on Facebook or Twitter.” said Thomas Clayton, CEO, Bubble Motion.

According to Anil Pande, Head-VAS, Reliance Communications said,“ The Value Added Services (VAS) landscape so far has been linear and limited to data-centric services. It is now becoming multi-dimensional with several voice based services like social networking, blogging offered to customers”. RCOM’s launch of voice based social networking highlights the increasing dominance of social networking in our lives. This service is available across India on CDMA and GSM networks
