No Free Entry For Star Studded Shows!

With Yuva Dasara acting as a prelude to the grand nine-day festivities, the Dasara organising committee is all geared up for the successful hosting of ‘Naada Habba’.

Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharamadikari of Dharmasthala Kshethra would open the grand festivities at the auspicious time between 8.31 am and 9.01 am at Chamundeshwari temple atop the Chamundi hill on Oct 8. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will be the chief guest. Harsh Gupta, Deputy Commissioner and Dasara Special Officer told reporters on Wednesday that the Chief Minister and the other guests would walk in a procession to offer pooja at Chamundeshwari temple and then light the lamp before the Goddess near the inaugural stage.

Briefing about the other events, he said there would be no free pass for Manoranjan Dasara (the star studded event carved out of Yuva Dasara) to be held at Maharaja College grounds. Instead, there would be tickets of various denominations for that event. Noted playback singer Sonu Niigaam would perform on any one day between Oct 9 and Oct 14.

However, the entry will be free for other three days. “It has been an expensive affair for the administration hosting to stars. The public should also bear the cost. About 5,000 chairs facilities can be availed on tickets. Whereas the event will be open freely for common public but sans chairs,” he added.

In yet another significant step, the ratio of number of passes to the tickets has been reduced. Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal said that all these years the ratio between tickets for palace and torchlight parade at Bannimantap grounds used to be 70:30. It was felt that the right of common public was denied for the privileged ones. In the wake of this, from this year, the ratio of tickets for both the events will be 50:50. All passes and tickets would be bar coded and unique. Tickets will be sold at palace, the Mysore zoo and other important tourist places in city. The gold cards are also ready for sale, he said.
A 12-member Pakistani Qawali team from Karachi would perform at the Palace on Oct 16, while a team from Botswana will perform on Oct 17.
