Sonu Niigaam At The Music Launch Of Striker

The Music Of Striker Finally Releases
Siddarth, one of the most popular South heroes, who recently won several accolades for his role in Rang De Basanti is all set to play the role of a carrom player in his upcoming sport film Striker. South actress Padmapriya has been paired with Siddharth in Striker by director Chandan Arora.

Set in the 1980s, the film will move through a labyrinth of socio-cultural political issues as seen through the eyes of the slum-protagonist. Entitled “Striker”, the film's main protagonist Siddharth's character will be based on the life and times of a real-life carrom whiz from the slums of Malavni named Suryakant.

Siddharth, who has said a firm no to several good offers from Mumbai including Rakeysh Mehra's Delhi 6 and David Dhawanâ's film for UTV, has quietly been preparing for the new challenge.

A carrom player from the outset, Siddharth has been polishing up his skills.

Siddharth has become an expert at carom. By the time we hit the floors in December Siddharth will be able to beat anyone at the game. He has met the real-life Suryakant several times. He has also spent sizeable time in Malavni getting the feel of the place. Though he functions from the south he has spent a large part of his life in Delhi and Mumbai. So he speaks very fluent Hindi,Arora told IANS.

Unlike Dharavi, which is a planned slum, Malavni just happened. People and communities from all across Mumbai who were rendered homeless just converged on this slum. So to begin with, it was more a refugee camp than a slum, said Arora.

But the game of carrom will preside over the goings-on, just as it does in the slum. Lakhs of rupees go into betting over the game. Carrom is a way of life in Malavni, explained Arora.

The rest of the vast cast is now being worked out. But Vidya Malvade from Chak De India, model Nicolette Bird and south Indian actress Padma Priya have been finalised.

So after Chak De India and Goal, get ready for another sports film next year. Hope it does as well, if not better than Chak De India

Saat sur, saat musicians aur ek Siddharth
IndiaGlitz [Friday, January 15, 2010]

Telugu hottie Siddharth, remember the affluent son of ‘Rang De Basanti’ who got linked with Soha Ali Khan after the movie thanks to our community, is now appearing in his first solo Bollywood movie ‘Striker’. But that’s not the only news; the Telugu heartthrob solo release is coming with a varied range of soundtracks, as it has seven different musicians composing the tracks of the movie. Filmed in Bombay (that’s what was said during the 80’s) the film is based on carom and shows Mumbai of the 80’s.

Directed by Chandan Arora, ‘Striker’ is the first Bollywood movie which has so many different musicians. This has been practiced in Hollywood but for Bollywood it’s a first attempt where seven musicians come together for one film. And yes, Siddharth has also crooned in this movie and continued his tradition which he religiously practices down south for good results. In ‘Striker’ he has given back vocals for one track ‘Hak Se’ and has sung a song composed by Amit Trivedi ‘Bombay Bombay’. And we must say that the actor has a neck for singing. The movie has tracks composed by Vishal Bhardwaj and penned by Gulzar saab.

‘All is well’ fame Swanand Kirkere has not only wrote a song ‘Maula,’ but has also given his voice for the first time. Tracks like ‘Piya Sawra,’ ‘Cham Cham rendered by Sonu Nigam, are brilliantly composed numbers.

Yuvan Shankar Raja, the son of Illyaraja, has composed the track ‘Hak Se,’ as he has also sung in it despite knowing Hindi. South Indian actress Padmapriya is making her Bollywood debut with ‘Striker’ which also includes Anupam Kher, Ankur Vikal and Aditya Pancholi.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Catch director Chandan Arora, actor R. Siddharth and music director Shailendra Barve talk about the simplicity of song 'Cham Cham' sung by Sonu Nigam in this making video of 'Striker'.

Sonu Niigaam: Kill Piracy Says Versatile Singer

Under Section- 35 of the Indian Copyright Act, playing commercial music in public places without paying licence fee is an offence. However, despite having the law, piracy goes on without any hesitations and condition remains unchanged.

Looking at this situation, the acclaimed singer Sonu Niigaam is very much concerned about the piracy issue and he’s thinking of taking the same to the government.
On this Sonu adds, “I think piracy is a major issue which needs to be addressed.
In coming days, all we musicians and other Bollywood people will take this issue to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting,” he signs off.

Well, the campaigns against piracy seem to be speeding up but how successful it will be let’s leave it to the time.

Sonu Niigaam Records In Multiple Languages For Big Fm !!

MUMBAI: Big FM has begun the new year with a brand new jingle, that furthers the station's positioning of ‘Suno Sunao Life Banao’. Big FM brand ambassador Sonu Niigaam has rendered vocals for the new sound composed by Ranjit Barot. The jingle began airing on 1 January 2010.

The earlier jingle sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Niigaam was replaced by the new sound on the first day of the year. Commenting on the new jingle, Big FM Senior VP Programming Nirupam Sonu says, “We introduced the new jingle across our markets on 1 January. Each station has three moods of jingles to be played at different parts of the day- morning, afternoon and evening. Also, we have composed jingles that suit the format adopted by the particular station.”

“For our Bangalore station which has a High CHR (Contemporary High Radio) format, we have a jingle with high tempo but in easy CHR format stations like Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi we have jingles with soothing low tempos. The jingles have been recorded in all languages including Dongri, Assamese, Tamil, Punjabi, Malayalam, Hindi to be played across our networks and all these versions are crooned by Sonu Niigaam.,” he explains.

Sonu mentions that Big FM is planning a 360 degree campaign to promote its new 'stationality'. “We would be building properties around it by conducting on air contests revolving the new stationality and divert the listeners to our website for downloading the jingle as a ringtone.” The station would soon be putting out television commercials featuring its brand ambassador Sonu Niigaam to promote the new jingle.

The new sound of Big FM is part of its music positioning announced in September with Sonu Niigaam as its brand ambassador. Big FM Senior Vice President – Marketing Anand Chakravarthy had earlier mentioned that around Rs. 10 million would be spent on the first phase of a multi media campaign that includes radio, outdoor, online, mobile and print. TVC, part of the second phase of the campaign will soon be rolled out by the radio network.

Sonu Niigaam Is Working On Next Album !!

Sonu Niigaam’s impressive range and versatility as a singer have ensured him a permanent place in music directors’ list of favourite artistes. His lovable rendition of ‘Zoobi Doobi’ (3 Idiots) has been a unanimous hit, proving once again that despite the dwindling numbers of his Bollywood tracks per year, he remains as popular as ever.

We caught up with Sonu about his upcoming Bollywood songs, acting assignments, his next album and his message to aspiring singers.

On his Bollywood projects…
I’ve sung one song in Mani Ratnam’s Ravana. I don’t remember the exact lyrics as I had sung it long ago. Nevertheless, I had a fantastic time crooning the song; it’s always been great working with A R Rahman. Besides this, I have no Bollywood film in the pipeline.

On his acting assignments…
Acting offers keep pouring in but I don’t want to sign anything just for the sake of it. I want to do something meaningful, artistic, satisfying and something that’s beyond commercial-value. Recently, two projects have fascinated me but they are still at a scripting stage so I’m still uncertain about them.

On regional music…
I have been working in regional cinema from a very long time now. I had a wonderful experience singing in different languages, and so far I have received overwhelming response for my regional songs. Recently, I released my Kannada album Neene Bari Neena. It has music by Mano Murthy and has become quite popular amongst the youth.

On reality shows…
I think reality shows have become a big platform for budding singers. While that is good, I feel I have no right to comment on them.

On his favourite music…
I feel music lovers should keep experimenting with all sorts of music. If you ask me, I love listening to all genres of music. But preferably, I enjoy listening to Indian classical, world music and Jazz.

On his next album…
Yes, I’m doing an album and the work is in the process. I won’t be able to divulge many details.

On his favourite contemporary singers…
I like Sunidhi Chauhan, KK, Kunal Ganjawala and Kailash Kher’s style of singing.

On fitness…
I always like to be fit and I think it’s important to live a healthy life. I think other singers too have realised the importance of fitness. Moreover, it also increases your stamina which ultimately helps you in singing.

His message to young singers…

I think playback singing is not the only form of singing and the younger lot of generation should think of other avenues like live performances, forming a band, classical concerts etc.

Sonu Niigaam Makes A Comeback To Acting

Highly talented and good looking singer and actor Sonu Niigaam, who disappeared from the acting scene from a long time now wants to give a shot to acting again.

Sonu Niigaam recently expressed his desire for acting and says, “Acting offers do keep pouring in but I don’t want to sign anything for the sake of doing it. I want to do something meaningful, artistic and beyond commercial-value. Recently, two projects coming my way really fascinated me but they are still at the scripting stage which makes me still uncertain about them.”

Sonu’s penchant for acting fetched him roles in Jaani Dushman, Kaash..Aap Hamare Hote and Love in Nepal, which although didn’t work wonders at the box-office but has not hampered his spirit to sizzle as actor on big-screen.

Sonu Niigaam Sings For Toonpur Ka Superrhero !!

Kireet Khurana Concluded the singing dub of an entertaining song sung by Sonu Niigaam, Mahalaxmi and Sudesh Bhonsale at Krishna Studios on xmas eve.

This song was an extremely difficult composition as the structure and tempo of the song varied on every single para, some sections of it were sung ad lib.

Kudos to Anu ji for the marvelous composition – composing for live-action & animation film with crazy visualisation antics is not a cake walk.
Am glad Anu ji took up the challenge and composed something out of his skin.
Sorry can’t reveal the details at this point but this is definitely one of the moments in the movie to watch out for. Cheers.

Bollywood Stars Wish You a Happy New Year !!

The stars of Bollywood have not forgotten about their fans and followers in the midst of all the New Year's celebrations! From Sonu Niigaam and Sonam Kapoor to Karan Johar and Lara Dutta, the stars of B-town took to Twitter to share their plans for the evening and wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Sonu Niigaam makes sure to share some love before the end of the year by tweeting: "Happy New Year!! Lovingly, Sonu Niigaam." Well that's sweet!

Another sweet tweet comes from Sonam Kapoor who shares her plans to have dinner with her girlfriends over a glass of champagne: "Last day of 2009, plan is pink champagne and biryani with my girls." Sounds like a good plan!

But all is not party and drinking. For Karan Johar for example, the end of the year is a time to reflect on the past and learn for the future: "last day of the year guys!!! 2mor a new date,a new era and a new phase begins...herald it with positivity...the universe is listening!!"Producer and philosopher, what a career!

And to finish in style, actress Lara Dutta is thankful for her wonderful 2009 and wishes everyone lots of joy and health! "Last day of the year! Have so much to b thankful for! 2009 was good to me! I hope u all have a healthy, wealthy and joyous new year! Lol!"

What do you think of the stars' New Year's wishes? Drop us a line.

Sonu Niigaam's Success with '3 Idiots' Soundtrack

It is undeniable that "3 Idiots" is a HUGE success. In fact, not only has hit made box-office history in India, but it has caught on with the western world as well. In the U.K., the U.S. and Australia, the movie has grossed more than any other Bollywood film, including star packed movies like "Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham." In Australia "3 Idiots" competes with the high budget movie "Avatar." So how can this success be explained?

Aamir Khan has truly created a reputation for himself, and with his selective nature, people only expect the best films and an amazing performance from him. This follows true in "3 Idiots" Each actor played their role remarkably well, making such a moving story believable. Director Rajkumar Hirani also deserves a pat on the back for his work.

And the music was already catching on with fans as the tunes are catchy and each vocalist amazing! However, after seeing the movie, or hearing the story of "3 Idiots," the lyrics of the songs makes more sense. Now the music is climbing the charts and the vocals are all feeling the love from the fans.

Sonu Niigaam sings "Aal Izz Well," "Jaane Nahin Denge," and "Zoobi Doobi" for this film. He has had great feedback from his fans and took to his Facebook page to thank them, "Hi all.. Thank you for your appreciation for my songs in 3 Idiots. It's overwhelming to see lots of my good work out and loved this year. Patience and integrity does bear fruits. lots of love. Sonu."

"3 Idiots" is a great movie for the end of the year for all those who were involved in the project, as well as for all those who have watched it and enjoyed it. With the bar set so high for films as we move into 2010, we hope that this caliber of work remains in Bollywood.

Rare Success For Dulha Mil Gaya

Unless it is a well-orchestrated promotional strategy (all’s fair in war and marketing anway), producer Viveck Vaswani threw a party at short notice when he discovered that the music of his new film Dulha Mil Gaya had climbed to No.1 on the charts within 36 hours of the music release at all major music outlets in the city.

Held at a suburban restobar on December 18, his celebration saw director-lyricist Mudassar Aziz, composer Lalit Pandit, singers Amit Kumar and Anushka Manchanda and leading actors Sushmita Sen and Fardeen Khan (with wife Natasha) in attendance along with Bhushan Kumar and Vinod Bhanushali of T-Series. Guests spotted include W.B.Rao, Rahul Dholakia, Tara Sharma, Claudia Ciesla, Bharat Shah, Pooja Bedi, Ahmed Khan and Uvika Choudhury.

Amit Kumar was in his element after Viveck prophesied that he would be inundated with offers after his song Dilrubaaon ke jalwe, his first for Shah Rukh Khan after Jatin-Lalit’s Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa 15 years ago. Viveck jokingly said that his director Aziz had suggested certain contemporary names as lyricist but he had insisted on true-blue geniuses Anand Bakshi and Majrooh Sultanpuri. “My director told me that both the legends are no more, so I told him that he will have to do the songs himself!” he quipped.

Sonu Niigaam's song is a highlight in the album !!

Get well soon Sonu Niigaam Sir - Jai Mata Ki !!

Sonu Niigaam was not well recently. He was admitted to hospital for a couple of days as he complained of fatigue and low blood pressure.

Sonu has cancelled all his meetings and recordings for the next few days.

He is also suffering from tennis elbow and is currently undergoing treatment for that as well.

However, the main concern is whether he will be able to leave for his forthcoming tours to Singapore and Israel in mid-January.

Get well soon Sonu Niigaam Sir & back to work for your fans
Wishing you a quick recovery for the new year !!

Parichay Goes To Bollywood !!

This year Toronto-born Hindi vocalist Parichay stepped onto the Urban Desi music scene as a solo artist. He has told us time and time again that he hopes to bring Desi music mainstream, and with the release of his album "No Boundaries," Parichay also released two slick videos.

We thought Parichay was taking the next step when he headed to Manchester, England to continue promoting "No Boundaries" as well as work on his second album. But it looks like that is not the case! Parichay reached out to fans on Facebook today, saying, "Just wrapped up a BIG tune for an upcoming Bollywood movie! We aint stoppin'.. 2010 is ours!"

From the Urban Desi scene to Bollywood, Parichay is conquering all. This does not completely shock us. Aside from Parichay's pure talent, he is friends with superstar playback singer Sonu Niigaam and has even recorded the song "Kahe Barse" with Sonu's sister Neekita.

Do you think Parichay has what it takes to make it big in Bollywood? Drop us a line. To learn more about Parichay, check out his artist page here.

Promo - Meherbaniyan - Veer

Salman Khan and Sonu Niigaam celebrated the soundtrack to Salman's upcoming movie "Veer" the other day and now fans can listen to two of the tracks from the warrior movie.

Salman is taking on several different looks for the warrior flick directed by Anil Sharma. The film revolves around his character's epic love story, the honor of his country and his resolve as a warrior in the face of the impending British invasion.

When B-town's favorite bad boy was in London to shoot a song for the movie, he craved some ice cream and decided to treat everyone on the set to a cone! Around 600 people got a taste of Salman's generosity! Not bad for a bad boy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eros International and Vijay Galani's VEER starring Salman Khan Bollywood's biggest epic film till date is very close to the leading actor's heart.

Since the movie is penned by Salman Khan himself he wished to leave no stones unturned for his magnum opus. Hence he brought together Sajid Wajid and Oscar winner Gulzar to compose the music for VEER which is set in the 18th century.

Ask Salman what's his favorite song - and promptly he replies "Meherbaniyaan"- sung by Sonu Niigaam.

Reveals a source "Salman had a great time shooting for the song and was often seen humming the song on the sets"

The song "Meherbaniyaan" sees Salman have a great time with his brother Sohail.

Might we add 50 musicians across India came together for a live orchestral recording of the film.

Eros International and Vijay Galani's Veer is all set to release January 22nd 2010.

The project was the first of its kind because it was the first song ever to be created through social networking. MJ, as we fondly call him, has been one of the biggest sources of inspiration in Sonuji's career and the desire to do this tribute, originated primarily from the latter’s sense of personal loss, added with his sense of responsibility as an artist, to salute and celebrate the glorious life of another. MUSIC GURU

One must never undermine the importance of rhythm while doing reeyaaz. The electronic tabla for those who do not have an accompaniment, is a sensible investment if you can afford it. or else, keep tapping the hand or feet and focus on the tempo while practicing sargams and taans. It makes a great deal of difference.

The show in Los Angeles was extremely special, as it was attended by esteemed guests like Jermaine Jackson,Terry Lewis,Christian Audigier among others. Additional Thoughts

Dear fellow travellers

As we bid farewell to the first decade of this millennium, I am overwhelmed at how my life transformed in the last ten years. My beliefs, my relations, my status ( I was single when I was entering the now-so-old decade!), my looks, my experience, I can go on and on!

Am thankful for all the learning and experience this decade provided me. I am so much more at ease with myself than what I was 10 years back. So much more aware!

I enter the new decade with reverence and humility, and a little twinkle in my eyes in pleasant anticipation of what lies ahead of me this decade onwards! And where and how will I be when I write once again in Dec 2019! All I can say is life is an endless journey, and it's only now that I have slightly started understanding the meaning of "endless".

My prayers to all the people who have been with me all this while, in body or spirits, may we all achieve the TRUTH sooner than later.

Happy New Year

Lovingly,
Sonu Niigaam

THE TRAVELLER

He’s achieved his objective – of singing less but getting more popular numbers than before. Sonu Niigaam, whose songs in 3 Idiots are catching on by the day, is also busy with varied interesting ventures
-------------------------------------------------
How do you divide your time today? A couple of years ago you were virtually living in America.

I divide my time equally between home and Los Angeles. I am doing select songs here and I am least interested in doing too much work. People have been saying that I have barely sung in 2009 but I have had truly great songs like in 3 Idiots, Don’t say alvida in Main Aurr Mrs Khanna and Shukran Allah in Kurbaan. There were Soniyo in Raaz – The Mystery Continues, I wanna chiggy-wiggy with you and Rehnuma in Blue, Aalam guzarne ko in Kal Kissne Dekha and now there is Tu to jaan le in Dulha Mil Gaya.

You also had some unusual interactions on Facebook in which you asked people to send in video entries.

Yes, that was for my Michael Jackson tribute for which I had composed a song.

Composer Wayne Sharpe revealed to us that you were recording a very unique project for Saregama at his studio in America. Can you tell us a bit more?
Oh, that’s a very unique project called Time Travel – it’s a crazy idea that turns the remix concept on its head! We have taken originals from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s and I have aligned my voice with our legendary singers like Lataji, Mohammed Rafisaab, Mannada and Kishoreda. For me, it’s an unique opportunity to almost sing a duet of sorts with them! But it is much more than that – the idea is that my voice should sound as it was recorded alongside theirs 30, 40 or 50 years ago in terms of the technical sound and feel. The analogue rather than digital feel should come in.
All this sounds easier than it is. We have recorded nine songs and the project is a 5-CD series and technically we have to work very hard when my recording should not sound as if it was added later. Even the marketing campaign will have to be different- and since I am going back in time and ‘singing’ with the greats the name is Time Travel. I do not think anyone has attempted this before.

Is Pramod Chandorkar, your usual engineer, at the helm again?
Yes, he is. This one needs his expertise.

You recently did a song for 26/11. How did that come about?
Well, I was in the USA when I got a call in my office to compose an anthem for the Mumbai Police and 26/11 and Subbu, National Creative Director of Linterland, was the man behind the initiative which was part of a police campaign called Abhedya Mumbai to praise the spirit of the force and Mumbai’s citizens.
Subbu had written the song and for some reason he also wanted me to compose the song, which we launched first on Big FM. I must say that but for one singer, every name that I approached among my fraternity, including legends like Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan), who opens the song, and Jagjit Singhji responded immediately to my call. I composed the song with different portions for each singer and blended them into a kind of anthem-ish rock.

Who are the others who collaborated on this song?
For the first time ever, BBC filmed us while recording the video and has come out with a “Making of the video.” A concert is also being planned now by BIG events.

Who else participated in the song?
Suresh Wadkarji, Talat Aziz, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Roopkumar Rathod, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, Kailash Kher, Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mahalakshmi Iyer and Richa Sharma all responded.

A curious point is the posting of your duet with Shreya Ghoshal on Facebook that you have recorded for Pyarelal. Is that a film song?
I wouldn’t know what is happening to the song. It was recorded about 18 months ago in the classic old style at Yash Raj Studios with 80-90 musicians. But it was a very gratifying experience.

Can you elaborate on that?
As I said, it was a ‘live’ recording and I promised Pyarebaba that I would record the song after a rehearsal in one take, just like the legends did. I did not want any punching done of portions that were not perfect. He was very thrilled that I managed that. Pyarebaba is among my icons. I have had the privilege of going to his house and his gifting me a book and teaching me a lot of things about music.
The other aspect was that the song recording took me back to my struggling days when songs were recorded live – I had sung a few songs for Laxmikant-Pyarelal then, like Hungama ho gaya in Deewana Mastana. Most of the musicians in theirs and others’ recordings had known me then as a struggler and it was very touching to meet them again after such a long gap, for live musicians are barely given work now and in any case the track is ready when we dub the song so we do not get to meet them.

What do you think of the current trend of composers from the biggest names to the newest entrants singing most of their songs? One reason they give is that they know the song better as they have lived with it for weeks while programming it.
I think that is a very unconvincing reason! They are compromising on the longevity of a song, just as they also do nowadays by casting an inappropriate singer – be it of the wrong tenor or calibre or someone who comes for a lower price! A composer cannot go on an ego trip, and only a great singer added to a great composition can lead to a perennial song. But at the end of the day, if they want to harm their own songs, it’s their life.
And are they trying to say that Naushadsaab or Shankar-Jaikishanji gaane to banaate waqt ragadte nahin the? Then if they could understand the nuances of their compositions best, why did they bother to employ a Rafisaab or a Mukeshji? And Usha Khannaji need not have had Lataji or Ashaji, right?

What else are you up to now?
Without false modesty, I am doing lots of good work in Kannada films and CDs sell on my name there. In the last three years, I have sung for almost all the great and contemporary names there.

What about Hindi films?

I have sung in A.R.Rahman’s Raavan and there are some excellent songs in Veer. Sajid-Wajid and Gulzar have come up with such great music.

Are things sorted out between Himesh Reshammiya and you?
There was no problem from my side. There were comments he made to the media to which I did not retaliate.

Afsha’s Trophy Becomes Too Big To Handle!

Remember Afsha…the cute, little hostess from “Little Champs’ that used to air on Zee TV? Well she is probably the youngest girl to make it big in the television world and is extremely fortunate to have shared the stage with biggies of the music industry like Sonu Niigaam and Suresh Wadkar. On the 1000th episode of “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ series this little girl was honored on stage.

Afsha Musani who wanted to become a singing participant of the music show “Little Champs’ though did not succeed in becoming one, but she ended up becoming the anchor for the show along with cute boy host Dhairya. On the grand finale of “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Mega Challenge’ and its 1,000 episode, all the hosts of the entire “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ were honored for their marvelous anchoring.

Sonu Niigaam, the first host of the show was to present trophy to the latest and youngest anchor Afsha and as soon as he came up on the stage Dhairya and Afsha went to touch his feet to express their gratitude, but instead Sonu playfully went on to touch their feet, as they ran around the stage chasing each other.

Finally, Sonu gave away the big trophy to Afsha and Dhairya, but guess what? The trophy was way too big for Afsha’s delicate little hands to handle and the trophy almost slipped off her hands, when Dhairya helped her to handle it.

Well it seems the awards are getting bigger for this young little girl quite literally!

Sonu Niigaam On The Red Carpet With Vikram Phadnis

Vikram Phadnis is undoubtedly one of B-town’s most popular designers. So when he decided to introduce his latest address, in partnership with accessory designer Malini Agarwalla, it was bound to be a star-studded red carpet do.

That’s exactly what it was. Among the earliest to walk in and congratulate both the designers was Amitabh Bachchan with a bouquet of yellow flowers. Whether it was the glow of the flowers reflecting on his face or the glow of success from his recent movie success, only he could tell. Big B was definitely the toast of the evening inside the venue as he mingled with the guests.

Outside, however, there was a mini stampede as his fans jostled and fought with security to get a better look at the superstar. And though they quietened down when he left, the mayhem started all over again when the ethereal looking Katrina Kaif — in an Anarkali style salwar kurta and intricately studded hair do — walked in accompanied by Alvira Agnihotri. The security indeed had a tough job on hand managing an evergrowing crowd of her fans.
Making their presence felt early in the evening were Sonu Niigam, Amrita Rao, Manjari Phadnis, Sandhya Mridul and Govinda who walked in with daughter Narmada.

Adding the oomph factor to the evening were Malaika and Arbaaz Khan with Malaika sporting a stunning gold sari drape creation. Sridevi — she too wore a gold sari — came with hubby Boney Kapoor, Arshad Warsi with wife Maria Goretti and Marc Robinson with wife Waluscha. Mandira Bedi, Fardeen Khan and Rohit Roy, meanwhile, walked in unaccompanied. Also among the guests were Adhyayan Suman, Jackie Bhagnani and Anjana Sukhani. Housefull!

'Meet My God' - By: Shreya Srivastava

"In This Unrealistic World
Meet My God ,
The Legendary Sonu Niigaam
My Musical Lord
Who Was Born In The Year
Nineteen Seventy And Three
Wrapped all around with
brilliance , benevolence and sagacity.

In this over-ambitious reel world
where the people live in an illusion
where the mind is filled with
callousness and criticism
and where the life is all false and fanciful

It is he the "songman" whom i say is yet stable
I salute him , I adore him
for he is unhampered and unshaken
by all odd - unfavourable winds
that blows sometimes , without any cease

Hey you all mah reading buddies
you all wanna know
what phenomenon of Life
does this Samaritan implies
and how living a Life he well symbolize

Life to him is like a defined journey
where time is like transient water of seas
as it follows the pattern linearly

i heard him quoting many a times
you don't have seconds to complain bout your past
neither the moments to claim for future bright
all in hand is the day to live
And fortunately this fortunate singer
knows how to rock with it !!!!

His every tone is like
a testimony against slavery
and a prayer to god for deliverance from chains
that everyone suddenly burst out singing ;
and i am filled with such delight
As prisoned bird must find in freedom
when get all spaces to fly high in sky.

His voice is that
which penetrates the ear with facility
and quits the memory with difficulty
His songs have power to quiet
the restless pulse of care
And come like the benediction
That follows every prayer.
hey my songman its you when i say
There Is music In the air...........

His voice is like moonlight
In the soothing night of life
The notes he handled no better than any pianists
But the pause between the notes
Oh.. that is where his art resides

Taali Maar' written by Gulzar and composed by Sallu's favourite composers Sajid-Wajid . And Salman was not a silent spectator while the song was being recorded.
He told the music composer duo that he wanted the song to be recorded on a lavish scale, with the use of traditional instruments because the movie is a period drama.

Sallu's wish was Sajid-Wajid's command. As many as 130 musicians were called in from different parts of the country from Chennai, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and UP. Among them were also experts who played instruments that no longer feature in today's songs.

To achieve the purity of sound, little possible use was made of multi-track recording (a malaise which has robbed today's music of a unified soul). ...

Sonu Niigaam Sings For 'Striker ' Music Releasing Soon !!

After Chak De India & Slumdog Millonaire now its...'Striker '
Finally the music is releasing soon.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Striker stars the Tamil superstar Siddharth in his first Hindi-language outing since Rang De Basanti where he played the pivotal role of the closet socialist.
In Striker Siddharth's character will actually step into the proletarian province. Says Chandan, "Siddharth is perfect for the protagonist's part.
He speaks fluent Hindi, understands the slum character's ability to stay honest in spite of crime and muck around him, and is very good at the game of carrom.
Others in the slum had half a dozen cases pending against them.
The hero's record remains untarnished."

Will Siddharth do for the game of carrom what Shah Rukh did for hockey in Chak De India? Laughs Chandan, "Like I said Striker isn't just about carrom board.
It's a microcosmic view of the entire slum, similar to Sudhir Mishra's Dharavi in scope."

Says Chandan, "I think producing my own film gives me the freedom to make the kind of films I believe in. It gives me complete authority to make the film that way I do. So yes, after working with Ram Gopal Varma and UTV for my first two films Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon and Main Meri Patni Aur Woh
I am my own producer for the third film."
