Sonu Nigam's New Hit Song To Ft In 'Pavitra Rishta'

MUMBAI, June 24 -- Trust Ekta Kapoor to do something new. The film and TV producer is taking her mantra to another level by fusing her hit TV shows, Pavitra Rishta (Zee TV) and Bade Achche Lagte Hai (Sony Entertainment TV), with a new song from her upcoming film, Kya Superkool Hai Hum.

Singers Sonu Nigam and Kailash Kher have sung two different versions of a number, Shirt da button. And now, in a bid to promote the song, Ekta has decided to put Sonu's version in Pavitra Rishta (shot with Arjun and Purvi) while Bade Achche... will see Kailash's rendition, shot with Ram and Priya.

"I am shooting special montages to introduce the songs at the right points. They will start off with very romantic moments in both the shows. It's my favourite song from the film because it's a bit quirky. In fact, it's my father Jeetendra's favourite song too because it's a heartland sort of song," says Ekta.

While Kailash's version will be aired on June 27 with Bade Achche..., Sonu's version will be seen in Pavitra Rishta a week later.

"I am personally confident about the song. And that's why I feel it's the best platform. I wouldn't have promoted the song if I didn't like it," explains Ekta.

Also, get set for flash mobs, courtesy Ekta. To promote another song, Dil garden garden, from the same film, she is set to host flash mobs across the city.

"The idea is to create a sensation by having flash mobs in different gardens in the city. In fact, it has taken me by surprise, because people have started accosting me regarding the song," says Ekta.

Sonu Nigam's Fresh Voice & Song In 'Kya Super Kool Hai Hum'

Teri shirt da main ta button soniye
Soniye!
Haaye! Teri shirt da main ta button soniye
Baalon tere main haaye clip ho gaya
Chand se bhi zyada sohna mukhda tera
Haaye! Dekhte hi dil ye slip ho gaya

O Marr gaye yaar deewane
O tere lover purane
O die heart fan tere hain
Tuhi kadar na jaane [x2]

Haaye ha o..
O o...
O Palko mein teri mil gaya, jannaton ka raasta
O tere peechhe peechhe peechhe chal pada
Ye mera mann baawra
Tere gaalon ka main colour soniye
Gale ka main tere necklace ho gaya

Tune khayalo ko jo chhu liya
Haaye neendon ka aana jaana less ho gaya

O Marr gaye yaar deewane
O tere lover purane
O die heart fan tere hain
Tuhi kadar na jaane [x2]

Sonu Nigam Wins Best Singer In The First Bangalore Times Film Awards

The first edition of the Bangalore Times Film Awards celebrates the best in the Kannada film industry

The south edition of the Filmfare Awards may be around the corner, but here's a celebration of cinematic talent chosen by the people who matter: You, our reader. That is the essence of the first-ever Bangalore Times Film Awards, instituted by the Times of India. Over the course of a month and half — from the time the nominations were announced in the Bangalore Times, till voting closed, readers voted on www.itimes.com/polls for who they thought deserved the top honours in Sandalwood in the year gone by. The winners were then selected based on our vote and 7.9 lakh online votes.

Kiccha Sudeep's first attempt at comedy in Only Vishnuvardhana had readers voting him the Best Actor Male. Sudeep said, "When I was told by the Bangalore Times that people voted me the Best Actor, it felt good. Recognition that comes from the people is always the best."

The Srinagara Kitty-Ramya starrer Sanju Weds Geetha landed Ramya a winner in the Best Actor Female category. Ramya, whose portrayal of a victim of abuse made her the clear winner, said, "I want to congratulate all my fans who voted for me because through my win, they win too."

Best Film — Sanju Weds Geetha
Five films in very different genres fought it out in this category. But it was the issue of child abuse as dealt with in the socio-drama Sanju Weds Geetha that struck a chord among our readers who voted for the Best Film. Produced by Pramod Narayan and Murali Mohan, Sanju Weds Geetha swept six awards at the Bangalore Times Film Awards 2011. "I thank the Bangalore Times for giving us wide coverage and nominating our film in many categories. We had a good team and I thank everyone, especially the technicians, for their work in the film. Shreya (Ghoshal) and Sonu (Nigam) sang beautifully to Jassie Gift's tunes. Ramya did such a fantastic job in the film. Thank you," said Pramod.

Best Director — Pawan Kumar (lifeu ishtene)
When debutant director Pawan Kumar set out to make a dark comedy about the youth, he had the support of his mentor — director Yogaraj Bhat, who also co-produced the film. The film tells the tale of a youngster who has no set goals in life and is not sure if he wants to get married or not. "I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me and my film Lifeu Ishtene. By letting the people decide who should win, the Bangalore Times has established a very fair competition," said Pawan.

Best Music Director — Jassie Gift (Sanju Weds Geetha)
When Jassie Gift first came on to the film music scene with the Malayalam song Lajjavathiye, it became an instant hit. The song went on to have a version into several other languages, making Jassie a force to reckon with in the business of composing for cinema. The composer-singer has made inroads in Sandalwood too — his debut Hudugaata and his work on Parichaya have won him several fans. His efforts in the Kitty-Ramya starrer Sanju Weds Geetha have fetched him the Best Music Director award. He composed six songs and sung one track, Raavana Seethen Kadda. The most popular number on the OST was the title track Sanju Mathu Geetha, which had solo versions by Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam.

Best Lyrics — Kaviraj (Sanju Mathu Geetha from Sanju Weds Geetha)
In the Best Lyrics category, Kaviraj's song Sanju Mathu Geetha from Sanju Weds Geetha worked for our readers. "While I thank the Bangalore Times for giving me this award, what is most important is that the people have selected my song and voted for me. This is very encouraging," he said.

Best Singer Male — Sonu Nigam (Sanju Mathu Geetha from Sanju Weds Geetha)
In the Best Singer Male category, Sonu Nigam's mellifluous rendition for Sanju Weds Geetha stood out. Interestingly, on the six-track OST of the film, Sonu has just one song, the title track, Sanju Mathu Geetha, and that won him the award.

Sonu Nigam's Voice Brings Tears & Cheers In Trinidad

THE thousands gathered at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya on Saturday fully expected to be blown away by Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam, but in the end it was Nigam who was moved by the love he received from his adoring fans.

The popular singer was nearing the end of his four-hour performance when he began taking song requests from the audience. Song titles from old and modern films were thrown at him, but then one fan suggested "Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin" from the film Agneepath.

Nigam, who earlier voiced his appreciation of the level of audience interaction and participation with him during the night, replied: "I think the audience deserves this song."

Almost every audience member sang along with gusto and, following the final note, Nigam received a standing ovation, thunderous applause and cheers.

An obviously emotional Nigam composed himself and said he wanted to give the people not just another song, but a very special gift.

Nigam then brought on his five-year-old son Nevaan and cradled him in his arm as the duo sang the song one more time.

By now even grown men were wiping away tears and screams filled the auditorium long after Nevaan was led offstage.

Traffic snaked along the routes into the Centre of Excellence long before the advertised 8 p.m. start time for the event and once the parking lots, roadsides and side-streets were filled to capacity, patrons paid $30 to park in a nearby field.

The show, which had been moved from an outdoor venue, was sold out and, once inside, many patrons were forced to stand for the entire concert because of limited seating.

Women were dressed in an array of outfits ranging from ornate traditional East Indian wear to micro-mini skirts, six-inch heels and tight, cleavage-revealing tops.

Fans were entertained earlier in the afternoon by Indar Kanhai and Karma's Ravi B.

Throughout the night, fans who gathered in front of the stage to take pictures of Nigam were chased away by members of the police and fire services.

Nigam was backed by his full band of 14 musicians and also gave fans a visual treat via a huge projection screen which served as a backdrop to his performance.

The singer seemed as entranced with his audience as they were with him, commenting one time that: "I'm seeing a wide contrast of people."

He delivered dozens of tunes from his well-known repertoire including the hits "Main Hoon Na", "Main Agar Kahoon", "Salaam-E-Ishq" and "Saathiya." He also gave an energetic rendition of "Kaise Bani" which prompted many to give their best 'wedding dances.'

Every time he sensed that the audience was becoming restless he would whip out another hit that would have them jumping from their seats.

Nigam even begged the protective services to let the people enjoy themselves stage side.

"Security." he said, "I'm telling you. One song. Let them jump."

The protective services were lenient for a bit but eventually drove fans back to their seats.

During one of his songs, a member of the audience gave Nigam a small Trinidad and Tobago flag which he proudly displayed.

The show ended shortly after midnight with Nigam thanking fans and organisers for their support.

Managing director of 90.5 FM, Anthony Maharaj, also thanked fans for bearing with the inconvenience, but called the show one of the best ever.

There were no food stalls at the venue so many fans flocked to fast food outlets and roadside vendors following the show.

Sonu Nigam For Anniversary Show

By Anna Ramdass
Story Created: May 27, 2012 at 11:59 PM ECT

There's a magic in his voice that keep fans coming back for more and although he's performed in Trinidad many times before, this Saturday Sonu Nigam will be coming to rock the stage once again. However his performance this time will be one of celebration as 90.5fm will be commemorating its 15th anniversary while Trinidad and Tobago will be marking its 50th anniversary of Independence.

For the first time Nigam will be accompanied with his full band of 14 musicians and fans will be treated to more Bollywood beats as singers Angam Nigam and Gunjan Singh (India's latest female singing craze) will also be sharing the stage at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya with Nigam.

Local heartthrobs Indar Kanhai and Ravi Bissambhar will also grace the stage and will be belting out their hits while engineers will also be on site to provide a spectacular light and sound effects.

Nigam began his singing career at the early age of three when he joined his father on stage to sing the song of India's legend Mohammed Rafi "Kya Hua Tera Vaada, Wo Kassam Wo Irada" and since then his passion and devotion revolved around music.

By 19 Nigam followed his dream and moved to Mumbai to go after his Bollywood singing career, like most artistes he faced a struggle in the industry but was able to get his first song from the film Aaja Meri Jaan at the age of 20.

Nigams big break came when The late Gulshan Kumar, owner of T-series music company heard Nigam and invited him to work with him. The song which shot him to fame was "Accha Sila Diya Tune" from the film Bewafa Sanam but his real moment of glory came in playback singing when he was invited to sing the song "Yeh Dil Deewana" for

Subhash Ghai's film Pardes plummeting Nigam to become one of India's singing heartthrobs.

Keeping in tune with the trends and modernisation of the world, Nigam changed his style of singing and blended the rhythms of the West with the classical tunes of the East.

Today, Nigam is amongst the highest paid singers in Bollywood and is in high demand.

He is also knowns as the first host of India's popular talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa which grew to become that country's most loved shows on television.

Nigam is a major force in the music industry with too many awards to list.

His rendition of the popular song Kal Ho Na Ho is one that fans request repeatedly during his concerts.

He is not only recognised for singing love songs but also branched out successfully into Indipop, rock and also the songs filled with sorrow.

Nigam has also sung in many languages including English, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Urdu, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Nepali, Malayalam and Marathi.

American pop legend the late Michael Jackson was Nigam's icon and following Jackson's death Nigam released a tribute song to Jackson in his honour which made it to an 18 sing global compilation of tribute songs CD The Beats of Our Hearts.

Nigam's melodious voice is well known globally as he has performed in many countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Russia, Afghanistan, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Suriname, Mauritius, Nigeria, Guyana and South Africa.

Not only does he sing but Nigam also took a stint on the silver screen. He acted in several films including Betaab, Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani alongside Bollywood stars Manisha Koirala and Sunny Deol. He played the lead role in the film Love in Nepal alongside actresses Flora Saini and Sweta Keswani.

Nigam's concerts have attracted thousands on various continents and the same is expected for his big show this Saturday. His live performances are known to stretch out into over three hours and his love for his fans seems to be the motivating factor.

"Your tomorrow has no right to complain about your today, as long as your today gives you a bliss, unknown and incomprehensible to both your yesterday and tomorrow" says Nigam who promised to provide Bollywood bliss to his fans this Saturday in Trinidad as part of his world tour concerts.
