Sonu Nigam/Composer & Singer On World Music Day

Thanks to the corporatization of Bollywood, music is in the deplorable state that it currently is in. Today you find item numbers ruling the music scene. If music was not important then why are Bollywood films using only songs in their promo? Item numbers only reflect how insecure music composers are! There is only one Anu Malik who must have done diverse stuff like a Refugee, Main Hoon Na and he has even done item numbers. Composers have lost their faith in good singers and rely on catchy words to sell their music. And to top it, it sells! Music companies are getting richer, but they fail to give music composers and musicians their due. Music is the soul of Bollywood films, yet it is only supplementing films. There are very few musicians who have done religious, romantic and world music. The effort to introduce different genres of music is restricted to a few.
